MOKRA GORA, SARGAN 8 & DRVENGRAD

Mokra Gora is known for its beautiful nature, but even more so for its old railway that was used for the train called Ćiro on its way from Belgrade and Užice towards Višegrad and Sarajevo. The part of the railroad that includes Šargan 8 (named after its shape) is especially attractive today. It is 13,5 km long and has 22 tunnels and about 10 bridges and viaducts. Šargan 8 is the most attractive tourist-museum railroad with the narrow gage in Europe and a unique construction master piece in the world. During the ride you'll have the opportunity to see the beauty of this area from one of the 5 viewpoints as well as to feel the spirit of the bygone era.

Drvengrad was built on the Mećavnik hill after the idea of the movie director Emir Kusturica for the filming of the movie "Life is a miracle". Because of its location this etno village is also known as Mećavnik (named after the amount of the snow that resides there in the winter months). Drvengrad has everything one town should have: church-cabin, coffee shop, restaurants and the cinema and the interesting fact is that every street, as well as the small wooden cabin, has been named after some famous person from the world of film, literature or music.
